Diabetes and your Overall Health
May 18, 2010 by Reversing Diabetes
Being healthy is often cited as one of the most important things in life. Of course, we all want to live long and healthy lives, but, for many of us, we fail to see just how each and every part of our body truly and miraculously works together – to form a perfect breathing, moving and brilliant machine.
Of course, if you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you now know that you will need to monitor your health even more closely, however, striving for harmony and a better understanding of our own body is certainly not limited to those who have been diagnosed with some type of disorder.
Rather, we, as human beings, need to get better in touch with “who we truly are” as a whole. Have you ever wondered why you feel depressed when you are ill? Or conversely, why you feel achy when you feel stressed out or sad?
As a species, we tend to focus much of our day to day reality on our physical self- when, in fact, we should be looking inwards at our emotional/spiritual sides, our mind/brain AND our physical – as an “all inclusive package deal”.
This is why taking a good, hard look at our lifestyle, especially if diagnosed with a disease such as diabetes, is so important. While, unfortunately, reversing diabetes and the effects on your body is not yet possible, you can put all the odds on your side by making some lifestyle changes. Illness and disease may start in the body, but the root cause of the disease can often be linked to attitude, how we manage (or don’t) stress, as well as issues such as connecting with others, including forming relationships that feed us as well as finding activities (both physical and psychological) that will keep us entertained, engaged and stimulated.
On the surface, being healthy may seem like it is about keeping your body fit, but if you dig deep enough, you will come to realize that overall health is about discovering what works best for you – and to keep nurturing these things as much as possible.
Of course, you may not be able to avoid all illnesses and disorders, but you are certainly doing the right things to help you live a happier life.
