I received my copy from Amazon about three months ago. I did not look at it for several weeks then started reading it on an airplane. That made the trip to San Diego seem to be the fastest ever. First, I could not pickup your book and now I cannot put it down. I am starting the third reading and each time I am learning more. This needs to be required reading for those of us who are living with our diabetes and those that support people with diabetes (my honorary type 3s)
Most importantly, the information is significant and useful in helping us make our choices on how to control diabetes. I hope that you are not going to stop at 50 myths but continue on to 100 myths and even more. Your literary style peeks our interest, is tutorial without being overbearingly academic and reading it is a pleasant experience. I may be feeling sorry for those who do not have diabetes and are unable to be touched and moved by this book.
More, please…………………!

This book should be required reading for all those people entering the medical field. This book should be given to all those newly diagnosed patients and/or families dealing with diabetes. It is an easy read and easily understood book to help dispel the myths and fears of diabetes without a lot of medical details. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 52, using insulin pump at 54, starting riding a bike at 55, rode my bike across the US at 59, celebrated my 70th by riding 70 miles. Riva’s book would have saved me a lot of research and trial & errors that took years to learn on my own.
The medical staff see the diabetic minutes each visit. The person with diabetes has it 24 hours a day/ seven days a week. Riva’s book help you deal with all the other hours and days.

Riva’s book on diabetes is a book for all of us. We all need to know how to control our blood sugar so we feel better, are healthier, and don’t develop diabetes. For those who have it, this book is a no-brainer. I am reading it like a novel – it’s hard to put down. Riva has a way of wording this book so that you feel she is speaking to you, and yet it is very professional with an excellent blend of research and personal experience. I will recommend this book to my clients in my private practice of therapy, many of whom have diabetes and those who don’t – for those who want a healthy sustainable way of life, Riva’s book is invaluable.
